The inspirational novel „Redeeming love“ is written by Francine Sandra Rivers who is an American author of fiction. In 1986 Francine Rivers became a born-again Christian and most of her time spent studying the Bible. Redeeming love was her first Christian novel. It retells a biblical love story about a prophet Hosea who was commanded by God to marry a prostitute - the person that was supposed to be stoned.
To begin with, I recommend to read this book because of the main idea which teaches a lot. Writing this novel, Francine’s Rivers message was that we all fail in our lives sometimes, but we shouldn’t stop believing. Believing in God, in people, in love and happiness. Just we shouldn’t be afraid to face the problems sometimes. As a writer said: “ For some of us, one mile can be more to walk than thirty”. But we can still get what we want. It makes people think about the problems they may face in their life and encourages them to fight for their happines. It helps people to believe that they are able to deal with difficulties.
What‘s more, it is very interesting to read this book, because the action takes place in the 19th century, Gold Rush time. There are different classes of society. Women are wearing long dresses with corsets and the peasants are travelling by waggons which are drawn by horses. We don‘t see such view every day, because nowadays we are habituated to use new technologies, we are driving fast cars and women are wearing absolutely different clothes. This is why the story is so attractive. It takes us back to the 19th century and lets us to see the life when we weren‘t even born yet.
Finally, it is a novel where we can find the main character talking with a God a lot. Nowadays, there are less and less people who are religious. People say that they believe in God, but they never pray. They are not listening to what God says to them. „Redeeming Love“ shows a close relation between the main character and the God . It makes us believe that sometimes miracles can happen just we should pray for our wishes and strongly believe in what we want.
In conclusion I want to say that I was impressed by this Christian novel, because it showed me that sometimes love can be unselfish and true. I strongly recommend this book for everyone, because it reminds that we shouldn’t be afraid of our feelings and we are able to make mistakes. It is human. Anyway, God loves and bless us, every one.
